When should you book a celebrant for your wedding ceremony? Asap. For 3 reasons.
Ok… so why do I say to book your celebrant for your wedding asap?
Well, it’s not just because I really want you as a client. I really do though. I love working with people on the most hopeful and powerful celebration of love: marking and ritualising a love in the form of a wedding ceremony.
It’s not just because I want you to click on this post and the rest of my website. I actually would love for you to see my website, read my other blog posts, ask me questions and maybe even have some questions answered. And, yes, I would like you to share it, because I’m just a one-woman show of a small business trying to make a living doing the right thing.
It’s actually just because there is a logistic and sensible reason for you to book your wedding celebrant at least 6 months before your wedding ceremony. (If you do not have that long, fear not! There’s always a way to make things happen quicker!)
3 Reasons for booking your celebrant as early as possible.
We need time.
We need time to
check each other out - and commit to each other
work out practicalities such as venue logistics and set up, family/friend involvement and timings - and if I can match your expectations of those things
have a long, deep conversation all about you, your story, dreams and values
rehearse the ceremony
You need time to
consider which type of vows, readings, music and symbolic acts you would like
think of ways to describe your partner, what you love about them and how you see marriage
read and give feedback on the ceremony script
do ALL THE OTHER WEDDING THINGS - and the ceremony is just ONE of those things
I need time to
listen to you
think about how to craft your story into the completely bespoke ceremony for you
write the script for the ceremony
review and refine the script with you
For me to be your rock-solid ‘ringmaster’ of ceremony, keeping that part of your special day absolutely relaxed and perfect, we need time.
From the moment I commit to helping you make your wedding ceremony exactly how you dream it, I set the intention to guide and complete the process - so you don’t have anything to worry about - just like I will do in your ceremony.
2. Secure your celebrant before they’re booked up
As humanist weddings get more and more popular, celebrants get booked earlier and earlier. It is quite common for celebrants to be fully booked for a summer 6-12 months before, so if you want to be sure that I am available for your wedding, get in touch as soon you are ready.
You can always have that first discovery chat (where we check each other out) a long time in advance - nothing is binding until you secure the date with me with your first instalment. So, get in touch as soon as you know that you want to have a humanist wedding ceremony, let’s chat and just take it from there!
3. Ensure a stress-free timeline
A path to your wedding ceremony that eliminates stress and keeps everything smooth sailing could look like this:
You contact me at least 8 months before the date of your wedding to book an informal, non-binding chat. We have a bit of a natter either in person over coffee, or in a video call, to find out if we gel.
After you secure your date with me with the first instalment, I send you a questionnaire with some basic information and a couple of personal questions to get us started.
About 6 months before your wedding date, we should have our deep and meaningful sharing session, preferably in person. This is where I get all the details about you, your dreams and values to help me start writing your script.
You will get the first draft of the script around 4 months before the wedding. You can read it, chat about it and give me feedback for any updates. We can continue this process till you are 100% happy.
2 months before the wedding, you will have your final script. 1 month before, we should have all the details written, agreed and signed off.
The day before the wedding, or a day very near to it, we can have a rehearsal of the ceremony.
If we follow this tried and tested path, you can enjoy the rest of your wedding planning without any stress, time pressures or worries about your ceremony.
You can contact me anytime to ask me any questions about having a humanist wedding ceremony, about me as a celebrant (or person in general) or about how we can put together a completely unique wedding ceremony just for you.
